Family support and parental outreach

We aim to provide high quality parenting and family support services with appropriate outreach facilities, to ensure all parents have access to the support they need to get involved in their children's learning and development and give them the best possible start in life.

Outreach facilities

Home visits

The Children's Centre has outreach/home link workers who can visit parents who do not attend the centre with advice on all aspects of the care and education of your child.

Drop in play and learn

Play and Learn caters for children between birth and five years along with their parent/carer.

During the session we offer sand and water play, paints, tactile experiences, mark making, imaginative, physical and construction areas, books, outdoor play and occasional singing.  We have a baby play area providing natural materials promoting heuristic play.

Parents are encouraged to take an active part in Play and Learn by joining in with the activities; your skills are an important part of the group.  We enjoy messy activities, so don't forget to wear old clothes!

Toy library

We can arrange access to a Toy Library in Sheerwater. The Toy Library consists of a fantastic selection of toys and activities for all children under five.  By having the Toy Library facility, you can borrow any item that you think your child may enjoy without having the expense of buying it.  It provides a chance to use toys which best match the stages of your child's development.  Having new toys and activities within your home can make it easier for parents to join in which is vital for enhancing children's learning.

Transport to and from the Toy Library can be arranged for you, and we are also planning a mobile Toy Library to visit key locations in the community.

Joining membership fee is £6 every six months which is to cover the cleaning and maintenance of the toys and accidental damage or loss.

Open to parents/Carers/Childminders and Pre-School Services

Toy Library Opening Times: Tuesday 2pm – 3pm
Concessions available: £2.00
